Vizio HDTV Reviews part 2: Should a Vizio HDTV Be In Your Future?

Vizio HDTVs have just recently become bestsellers with consumers in the United States and Canada. In fact as of 2007, a Vizio HDTV was the largest LCD TV seller in all of North America with 606,402 units sold. As a result, the relatively new brand (founded only in 2002) has decided to focus exclusively on LCD televisions like the five models we will be looking at in this review.

First up, the VIZIO VF551XVT LED XVT-Series offers 1080P full high definition resolution equal to 2 million pixels. Therefore, you won’t be left wanting in terms of clarity and razor-sharp detail. Moreover, a 240Hz Refresh rate means a 240 scenes per second seamless delivery for blur-free images even during fast scenes. Along with SRS TruVolume to restrict inconsistent volume, this model promises to deliver high definition surround sound from its two built-in speakers. However, this unit is 4.961" inches thick that might not adhere to “slim” profiles coveted from HDTVs.

Next, the VIZIO SV472XVT LED also has full 1080p HD resolution for superior picture with a direct type, backlit HDTV made up of 640 LEDS efficiently assigned to 80 control blocks. What amazed us was the collection of widgets it came with, including Amazon-on-Demand, Twitter, Facebook, and Netflix—stuff we’re used to on our computers but here delivered (via an Internet connection) larger than life in streaming high definition. Although it sounds perfect for the total media consumer, adjusting settings might prove a challenge for newbies with this model’s full arsenal of options.

Similarly, the VIZIO VA370M 1080p LCD delivers 1080p high definition resolution with over 2 million pixels for perfect clarity and detail all at a 15% reduction of energy needs with ECO HD, both easy on the wallet and the environment. SRS TruVolume also makes full use of high definition sound through two built-in speakers. It has a solid body that is lightweight enough for easy mounting. On the other hand, despite the SRS TruVolume feature, the sound is still a bit on the low side even when turned up.

Meanwhile, the VIZIO 32-Inch Class XVT LCD HDTV comes in with 50,000 to 1 dynamic contrast ratio for noticeably bright whites and dark blacks. SRS TruSurround HA delivers a realistic high definition sound aided by the seemingly now standard TruVolume that removes inconsistent sounds between programs. 1920 x 1080 pixels brings about 1.06 billion colors to life. While the refresh rate is only 120Hz, the picture remains fluid with Vizio Smooth Motion Video technology. Our only qualm is the hard to get used to menu system and remote. However, more experienced users will find this just nit-picking.

Finally, the VIZIO E420VO 42-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV is another 1080 full high definition resolution model with amazing support for 1.06 billion colors. The digital ambient feature adapts quickly to room conditions to always deliver the perfect picture. While it is not as eye-popping remarkable in feature sets as some of the aforementioned model, this final model is certainly a remarkable value, delivering key HDTV requirements. However, with the influx of fully-featured Vizio HDTV in the market, you may want more sooner than later.
